The 12th Technical and Scientific Committee of the Pelagos Agreement, chaired by Mr. Alain Barcelo, was held on Thursday January 23rd 2020 at the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco.

The meeting took place in the presence of three Parties’ representatives (France, Italy, Principality of Monaco) to the Technical and Scientific Committee and numerous observers (ACCOBAMS, WWF France, Legambiente Onlus, Tethys Research Institute, Souffleurs d'Ecume, CIMA Research Foundation, Marine Protected Areas of Portofino, GIS3M, Communauté de la Riviera Française).

This meeting aimed, in particular, to define the Work program and the provisional budget for the 2020-2021 biennium, as well as the progress status of the international projects funded by the Permanent Secretariat of the Pelagos Agreement and the evaluation of management measures proposals identified in order reduce threats of anthropogenic origin in the Sanctuary area.

The Technical and Scientific Committee thus formulated recommendations, which will be submitted to the next Meeting of the Parties to the Pelagos Agreement, to be held in Italy in 2020.
