On the occasion of the IUCN World Conservation Congress, the Parties to the Pelagos Agreement and Spain participated in a roundtable on the theme "Contributing into building governance for a transboundary Particularly Sensitive Sea Area in North-Western Mediterranean Sea".

This event constituted a first time of exchange on the criteria for the designation of a PSSA in the International Maritime Organization, the functioning of this institution and the relevance of such a proposal in the considered area, which would also integrate the Pelagos Sanctuary.

In this perspective, the Parties reiterated their availability to cooperate in this process, notably during a technical workshop to be held during the month of October 2021.

The Pelagos Agreement participated in the IUCN World Conservation Congress on the theme "Protecting marine biodiversity: the Pelagos and RAMOGE Agreements, two examples of sub-regional cooperation".

On this occasion, the Permanent Secretariat presented the cooperation instruments of the Agreement with local actors and boaters: the Partnership Charter and the “Pelagos Ambassadors” initiative.
