In the framework of the cooperation between the Permanent Secretariat of the Pelagos Agreement and the Mediterranean Biodiversity Protection Community (MBPC) projects, we are pleased to invite you to our online technical workshop on "Mediterranean Biodiversity Protection Community (MBPC) in action: supporting cetacean conservation in the Pelagos Sanctuary".
The workshop will be held in English on November 18th 2022 from 9.00 to 13.00 .

Exceptional watching of sperm whales characterised the end of summer in the waters of the Pelagos Sanctuary, particularly in the Ligurian and Corsican Seas!
The presence of families, including females with young and newborns, of sperm whales. The Pelagos Sanctuary, usually a feeding area, also seems to have become a new breeding ground for these large cetaceans at risk of extinction.

On 29 August 2022, Mrs Viola Cattani joined the Permanent Secretariat of the Pelagos Agreement as Assistant of the Executive Secretary of the Pelagos Agreement.
The Permanent Secretariat welcomes Mrs Cattani and wishes her all the best in her work.

On July 8th, 2022, the Municipality of Villeneuve Loubet signed the Pelagos Partnership Charter, confirming its intention to commit to the protection of the marine mammals of the Pelagos Sanctuary.
The Alpes-Maritimes department thus counts all its Municipalities, bordering the Sanctuary, as Pelagos partners.
The Agreement Authorities thank Villeneuve Loubet and wish them a warm welcome!
The next National Sanctuary Committee (NSC), organised by the French team of the Pelagos Agreement, will be held on Friday 7th October 2022 in Roquebrune-sur-Argens (Var).
The aim of this annual meeting is to present the current and future national and international activities, to outline the perspectives for the following year, and to exchange with the different partners of the Sanctuary.
The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion commissioned the Port-Cros National Park to lead the French part of the Pelagos Sanctuary.
In this capacity, it works on three themes:
- research;
- management;
- awarness raising;
