On February 18th, 2020, the municipality of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and the Communauté d'Agglomération de la Riviera Française (CARF - Public Intermunicipal Cooperation Institute) signed the Pelagos Partnership Charter, confirming their intention to commit to the protection of the marine mammals of the Pelagos Sanctuary.
To date, the Pelagos Partnerhip Charter counts 149 signatories municipalities and 3 french Public Intermunicipal Cooperation Institutes.

The french animation team of the Pelagos Agreement, in partnership with the WWF, organizes the "Stop strikes" contest. This contest is aimed at youth, who can join the initiative, from February 3rd to May 8th, 2020.

The 12th Technical and Scientific Committee of the Pelagos Agreement, chaired by Mr. Alain Barcelo, was held on Thursday January 23rd 2020 at the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco.
The meeting took place in the presence of three Parties’ representatives (France, Italy, Principality of Monaco) to the Technical and Scientific Committee and numerous observers (ACCOBAMS, WWF France, Legambiente Onlus, Tethys Research Institute, Souffleurs d'Ecume, CIMA Research Foundation, Marine Protected Areas of Portofino, GIS3M, Communauté de la Riviera Française).
This meeting aimed, in particular, to define the Work program and the provisional budget for the 2020-2021 biennium, as well as the progress status of the international projects funded by the Permanent Secretariat of the Pelagos Agreement and the evaluation of management measures proposals identified in order reduce threats of anthropogenic origin in the Sanctuary area.
The Technical and Scientific Committee thus formulated recommendations, which will be submitted to the next Meeting of the Parties to the Pelagos Agreement, to be held in Italy in 2020.
On December, 19th, 2019, Grimaud officially signed the Partnership Charter for the Pelagos Sanctuary, confirming its intention to commit to the protection of the marine mammals of the Pelagos Sanctuary.

The Permanent Secretariat of the Pelagos Agreement participated in the 21st Conference of the Parties to the Barcelona Convention, held in Naples from December 2nd to 5th 2019.
On this occasion, the status of Specially Protected Area of Mediterranean Importance (SPAMI) has officially been renewed to the Pelagos Sanctuary.
